Riftbound TCG Token Care, Storage & Tournament Tips
Share
Your Riftbound TCG token set is built to last — PLA tokens are surprisingly durable and tournament-friendly. Here's how to keep them looking and performing their best, plus practical tips from players who've been running our tokens in competitive play.
Why 3D-Printed PLA Tokens Last
Cardboard tokens warp, bend, and fade after a few months of regular play. Acrylic tokens chip and crack when dropped. Our PLA tokens:
- Don't warp at normal room temperatures (only matters above ~140°F/60°C — don't leave them in a hot car)
- Resist chipping better than acrylic because PLA has slight flex
- Hold ink and embossed text permanently — no fading from sleeve friction
- Don't peel like sticker-labeled tokens
Daily Storage
The included carrying case has individual slots for each token — use it. It keeps tokens from clinking against each other and prevents the matte finish from scuffing over time. Throwing all tokens into a single bag is fine short-term, but you'll start to see surface wear after 50+ play sessions.
Tournament-Ready Organization
Players running our tokens in competitive Riftbound events have shared a few favorite organization tricks:
- Sort by frequency, not type. Keep your most-used tokens (Stun, Buff, common Damage) in the front-left slots so they're fastest to grab during turns.
- Color-code the case lid. A piece of washi tape on the inside of the lid noting what's where saves seconds per turn.
- Carry a spare set. If you play at multiple venues, having a second case at your usual playgroup's space removes a thing to remember.
Cleaning
If tokens get sticky from snacks or hand oils (it happens):
- Damp microfiber cloth + warm water = 95% of cleaning needs
- For stubborn marks, a tiny drop of dish soap on the cloth
- Avoid: alcohol-based cleaners (can dull the matte finish), abrasive scrubbing pads, dishwashers
Travel Tips
For convention or tournament travel:
- Pack the case inside a deckbox or backpack — don't toss it loose in checked luggage
- Avoid extreme heat (car dashboards in summer = no)
- If flying internationally, the case is small enough to qualify as carry-on personal item
